Love In 10 Words Challenge

Find this old post recently on my regular blog and thought it deserved a spot here.

Vanessence

My blog bud, Angie, who blogs at Family Love Does More, has issued a poetry challenge. It’s been a long time since I’ve written anything poetic, and Lord knows I need to update my poetry blog. Maybe I’ll put this up over there!

Anyway, there are “rules” to this thing – always with the rules! LOL They are:

  • Write about love using only 10 lines.
  • Use the word love in every line.
  • Each line can only be (no more than) four words long.
  • Nominate others who are up for the challenge.
  • Let them know about the challenge.
  • Title the post: Love in Ten Lines
  • Include a quote about love (this can be your own).
  • You may write in any language.

I’m not going to nominate anyone, but if you are so inspired and inclined, join in!

My submission:

Love In Ten Lines

Love hurts
Love weeps
Love kisses

Blogging University Writing 201: Poetry Day 6

Blogging University | The Daily Post

Day 6: Faces, Found Poetry, Chiasmus

She walks in beauty, like the night
And all that’s best of dark and bright
A glimmer, and then a gleam of light!
Thus mellowed to that tender light

That was all! And yet, through the gloom and the light,
Softly lightens o’er her face;
But lingers and gazes, till full on his sight
Had half impaired the nameless grace

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black
A lover’s embrace dreamy and fey
Lacking nothing, and nothing to lack

Since today’s poetry assignment is “Found Poetry” I want to include the poems I used to craft this one.  ~V~

Blogging University Writing 201: Poetry Day 5

Blogging University | The Daily Post

Day 5: Map, Ode, Metaphor

Oh, the map!  The wonderful map!  It’s history and future all rolled into one.

It is every place I’ve ever been and wanted to go.

It is my life laid out before me, bold with color and textured with dreams.

Road map, world map, sky map, here, there, and everywhere.

A map shows me every place I’ve ever been or wanted to go.

Except the path to your heart.

Blogging University Writing 201: Poetry Day 4

Blogging University | The Daily Post

Day 4: Imperfect, Limerick, Enjambment

A man once declared himself perfect
Vowing he was no feminine reject
Until hiring one day
A woman for pay
And she laughed as she gazed to inspect it

*****

I longed to share a perfect love that

Would last me forevermore, yet I

Have found that there is joy in

The imperfection of our life.

Blogging University Writing 201: Poetry Day 3

Blogging University | The Daily Post

Day 3: Skin, Prose Poem, Internal Rhyme

A dapper wrapper for the heart part, it perspires, inspires, and expires.  It comes in a glowing rainbow of colors, and can’t be bought with dollars.

But sometimes, if you touch much, you could melt or get a welt, depending on how snug the hug.  It all depends on the skin you’re in and the skin you want to share in.
